Natina Reed, the star of Bring It On, was killed in Atlanta on Saturday after being hit by a car on a highway. Reed was 32 and was a member of the 1990s R&B group Blaque.
She had been reportedly walking along a state highway in suburban Georgia when struck by a passing car. Police said the driver of the car stopped and called 911, while one of the car’s passengers performed CPR waiting for emergency personnel to arrive. Nevertheless, when Reed arrived at a local hospital she was pronounced dead on arrival.
At this time, authorities in Atlanta are investigation as to why Reed was walking on the highway. A spokesperson for the police said the driver of the car had not been at fault and charges would not be filed against the driver.
The band Blaque was based in the Atlanta area and achieved its success with hits like 808 and Bring It All to Me. Reed used her success in music to launch an acting career. In 2000, she starred with her band mates in Bring It On a hit comedy. Reed would have celebrated her 33rd birthday on Sunday October 28.
Many music stars and stars of television took to the social media sites to post their condolences for Reed’s family. Reed is survived by her son Tren Brown who is just 10.
