NBA rumors suggested that the Cleveland Cavaliers would not have LeBron James for the preseason while the team would have Kevin Love as the season opener. Moreover, it seems that the Cavs has not yet signed Tristan Thompson as they pulled back their offer of near-$80 million.
LeBron James might play for the preseason based on a report from Cleveland.com. However, according to SWR, the Cleveland Cavaliers seems to be precautious and would not have him for the preseason, as he received an anti-inflammatory injection for his back. Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert are already out of the team because of wrist injury and knee surgery, respectively.
Based on NBA rumors, Kevin Love is expected to be ready for the preseason opener after his shoulder surgery. However, it seems that the Cavs could limit his minutes early in the season since he has just recovered from the shoulder injury, which he suffered while playing against the Boston Celtics in the postseason.
If the Cavaliers do not sign Thompson this preseason by this week, it seems that his situation could extend into the regular season. Even though there were reports that the team pulled back their “original offer of five years and around $80 million,” the team has not pulled their offer according to Cleveland.com.
Tristan Thompson is actually demanding a max deal, a short-term deal, with about $15 million per season. It seems that the Cavs might consider taking Kevin Love with a max contract to fill Thompson’s position.
