NBA trade rumors do not usually concern the Golden State Warriors, what with its amazing 26-1 win streak this season. On the surface, the Warriors do not have a gaping need, given its performance. However, when one goes deeper in analysis, one finds that such NBA trade rumors do indeed have a foundation.
Golden State Warriors rumors: Trading Speights?
The thing is, the Golden State Warriors may be formidable, but they are far from perfect. This is because whenever leading shooters Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are off the floor, even worsened by the absence of Harrison Barnes, the team would struggle to score. This apparent weakness is what compels general manager Bob Myers to always keep an open mind regarding NBA trade possibilities.
As things currently stand with the Warriors roster, Marreese Speights’ recent performance was far from satisfactory, and he needs to greatly improve for the Warriors management to overlook the gap. Meanwhile, the logical target for such an NBA trade is Channing Frye, currently with the Orlando Magic. Last year, during the 2014 season, there was mutual interest between the Golden State Warriors and Channing Frye—that is, before he eventually signed with the Orlando Magic. Even as this season started, there were talks that Frye could still be had cheaply. However, Frye’s subsequent good performance with the Magic—significantly contributing to the team’s improvement to 9-4 because of Frye’s insertion in the starting lineup—could cloud that possibility. The Orlando Magic would want to retain him.
Aside from Frye, there is really no clear target for a trade, if an NBA trade involving the Golden State Warriors is actually a possibility. The Golden State Warriors is actually in a very good place as far as rankings are concerned. In any case, Speights’ could simply improve his performance, then everything about these rumors would simply become moot.
