Well, is the Los Angeles Lakers ready to say goodbye to Kobe Bryant, and welcome Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder? Read on to find more details.
Based on a report from Complex, the Oklahoma City Thunder might trade Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers if the Lakers are ready to give up Nick Young, D’Angelo Russell, and Julius Randle. As per this report, the Lakers’ Kobe Bryant is in no way related to Westbrook trade.
Rumors that Westbrook might be traded to the Lakers ignited since July as the OKC player would become a free agent in 2016.
According to ESPN, an NBA executive said, “I expect [Russell] Westbrook and [James] Harden to join forces there when they become free. It definitely still has allure. It’s still L.A., and they are still the Lakers. No free agent can question whether or not they will spend the money to win titles.”
However, Sports World Report reported in April that Westbrook has been interested to continue playing for the OKC, and has not been encouraging any trade option connecting him.
While that is the case with OKC’s Westbrook, another NBA trade rumor suggested that Bryant might be traded off before the deadline. Recorder Press reported that Bryant’s present performance was not up to expectations, and this might be the reason for the trade speculations. The source further added that Bryant might have his last turnaround this season.
“If somebody’s thinking of buying a ticket three years from now to see Kobe play, I would not do that. Don’t wait. Do it this year,” said Mitch Kupchak, the LA Lakers’ general manager, to NBA.
