The Los Angeles Lakers might trade their point guard Jordan Clarkson, according to the recent NBA trade rumors. Read on to find out more details.
Based on a report from YIBADA, Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers has been making an incredible performance since last year until this season, with an average score of 14.9 points when playing 30.8 minutes per game.
Clarkson joined the Lakers with a two-year non-guaranteed contract, and the point guard would earn above $800,000 this year, according to Bleacher Report. Moreover, he would become an unrestricted free agent in July.
It seems that Clarkson might be traded, as the team is not willing to invest in the point guard. The source also added that trading Clarkson along with Nick Young or Lou Williams might reduce the team’s payroll this season.
However, it could be impossible that the Lakers would be ready to sacrifice Clarkson this season, as the head coach Byron Scott trust the point guard’s talent very much.
Hoops Habit also reported that Clarkson would be the Lakers’ future as he would become the team’s key player after Kobe Bryant retires. The source further added that Clarkson must be rewarded with deserving respect as he could “perform night in and night out.” Indeed, he could become the “Lakers’ most valuable player going forward.”
Hence, trading Clarkson might not be the best option for the Lakers. Moreover, as Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell are struggling to give a steady performance, it is better for the Lakers to not give up Clarkson.
With an aim to rebuild the team with young talented NBA superstars, the Los Angeles Lakers might consider possible trading options. Indeed, the Lakers need more young talented players as Bryant is retiring next season.
