According to SWR, the biggest x-factor for the Boston Celtics would be at the point guard position as both Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart seem to the best fit for the team’s starter.
Brad Stevens, head coach of the team, said that Thomas has been excellent in the training camp. Even though he played the Sixth Man role last year, he has improved a lot since then and can be put as a starter. The coach admires his fitness and ability to lead the offense.
In an interview with Boston Herald, Stevens said that Thomas “has completely been unbelievable on offense.” He also added that the point guard player is purely “unselfish” and does not force anything. He further added that Thomas makes the right lead in the right situation.
The Celtics prefers to replace Rajon Rondo with Smart in future. He has also proved to become a successful starter. However, it seems that Thomas is better than Smart.
Thomas does not prefer being the starter, even though chances are that the team could put him in the role. He also revealed that he has to do what is best for the team, even though the team values him as a starter. He feels that it is best for the team if he comes off the bench and be the sixth man. However, Thomas has also made it clear that his aim is to win “whether that is off the bench or on the court to start the game.”
Both Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart show immense power and talent in the training camp. Let us wait to see whether the Boston Celtics puts Isaiah Thomas or Marcus Smart as the starter.
