Fans are looking forward to a Brandon Bass trade from the Los Angeles Lakers. It is rumored that the Los Angeles Lakers are eyeing Chicago Bulls’ power forward, Taj Gibson. Read on for more details.
Brandon Bass cannot be traded until the stipulated period of three months on the contract are over. But the Lakers would want to trade the backup big for a small and versatile power forward like Taj Gibson if they want to stay relevant in the western conference.
It has also been said that Gibson is too expensive for a team like the Chicago Bulls who would like to trade him for a bargain like Bass. Gibson is being paid 8.5 million a year for his services while Bass comes cheap at around 3 million a year. Lakers are the sort of team that can afford an expensive player like Gibson and Chicago Bulls would love to get that paycheck off their hands.
Gibson is about the right size to be a small forward. He stands at six feet and nine inches and weighs 225 pounds. Gibson is known to be a versatile player. He plays the power forward position but could also play as a small forward for the team if the need arises. It is well known that the man is good at defense and his defensive presence will come in handy for the Lakers who want just this sort of a player right now in their team. Byron Scott has often complained about his team lacking small forward depth and Gibson might just bring that kind of nuance to the Lakers’ game next season.
Lakers need a big time makeover this season if they hope to show up on the top of the western conference next season. It looks like the coach and the team have finally woken up to the fact that they need to look into developing depth into their presence on the court.
