This may be the last season that Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler, Derrick Rose, and Joachim Noah will be playing together as the core members of the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls who notched a 50 – 32 record in the 2014 – 2015 NBA Season under the then defense-oriented Tom Thibodeau will likely have a massive revamp, especially with the incoming trade deadline set on February 18, 2016.
The Bulls were routed by Lebron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers in the Semi-Conference Finals, 4 – 2. The loss became the catalyst for Thibodeau to be dismissed by the Bulls’ front office prior to the beginning of the NBA Summer League
New coach Fred Hoiberg abandoned the defense-oriented tactics of Thibodeau and has been a breath of fresh air for the Bulls’ management, who are now keen for his free-flowing offense, a playing style which Hoiberg has been noted in his past Iowa State coaching resume.
In a report from CSN Chicago, Gibson whose name has been constantly entangled in the Bulls shopping trade spree has given his own contemplation regarding the possibility of a new team in the next season. The 30-year-old veteran has been giving valuable pointers to Arkansas rabid rookie Bobby Portis and speculations have abound that the former will likely lose his position to the much younger athlete.
“At the end of the day I care about my teammates. I don’t worry about all that. If he plays well it’s good for us, it’s good for the team. I want him to succeed,” Gibson explained.
Gibson who has effectively played a sixth man role for the Bulls and was drafted by the squad in 2009 added that, “Nah, my name has been in rumors my whole career. You look at things like that, it’s part of the game.”
The Bulls has made their hot line accessible for other teams, as mentioned in Bleacher Report, and has been freely open to negotiations that involves Gasol and Noah. Both men have exhibited a defensive prowess throughout their career.
In a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, despite the ongoing rumors of moving key pieces, the Bulls managed to pull a win on the domineering Oklahoma City Thunder, 105 – 96. The Bulls are now 18 -12 and are in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference.
