The recent NBA trade rumors about the Toronto Raptors revolves around their shooting guard DeMar DeRozan. It seems that the team is looking forward to trade DeRozan for Tristan Thompson, power forward of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to YIBADA, there are more chances that DeMar DeRozan could leave the Toronto Raptors through free agency. The Raptors might trade the shooting guard as the team’s GM Masai Ujiri is not satisfied with the “projected max salary” for DeRozan.
“There will be no extension talks with DeMar,” said Ujiri, reported SWR. Ujiri also added that DeRozan would do “the best deal for himself” after this year. He further added that the team would also do the best deal for themselves.
Which team would the best fit for DeRozan if the Raptors trade him? Well, it seems to be Los Angeles Lakers, according to KpopStarz. The source also added that the Lakers’ Jordan Clarkson would be the best exchange for DeRozan because of his affordable contract and high potential.
It seems that the Raptors could build a team with Jordan Clarkson, Kyle Lowry, and possibly Kevin Durant, if the Raptors trade DeRozan to the Lakers in exchange for Clarkson. However, it is believed that the Lakers would not be interested in making this trade during this season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers could also be the best fit for DeRozan. Moreover, rumors also suggested that the Cavaliers are looking forward to trade for a shooting guard. Rumors also indicated that the Raptors could trade DeRozan and Terrence Ross for Tristan Thompson of the Cavaliers. Indeed, Thompson could help improve the Raptors’ rebounding and defense.
