The deadline for NBA trade is February 19, 2016. But that is not stopping the names of big players such as David Lee and Pau Gasol being popped up who might be included in the deal.
David Lee is yet to enjoy a comfortable position in the Boston Celtics. The player may not fit with the future plans of the team. Moreover, Lee’s contract will be expiring very soon. On the other hand, The Chicago Bulls might be still contemplating about moving players like Pau Gasol.
David Aldridge of NBA.com has reported that Lee is perhaps being shopped. The fact that Lee has been unable to shape up a considerable roll till now may have a negative impact in the trade market as far his value is concerned.
This 32-year-old player is also suffering currently from problems his lower back.
Brad Stevens has been an amazing coach and has contributed significantly in the performance of the Celtics who have been executing and playing together remarkably. The success of the team has been also due to its fast-paced playing style of basketball and great spacing.
But Lee’s style is more like a post player and perhaps that is one of the key reasons why he earlier did not fit with the team Golden State Warriors and became a part of Boston.
The Celtics have preferred to use younger players such as Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger over Lee quite often. So, it will be really exciting to watch what Stevens can do with only one premium player available with him.
A stud like Lee’s name may come up in the NBA draft of 2016. But till that time, Danny Ainge, the general manager, will perhaps continue collecting young blood and prefer to do away with players such as Lee who may not have much use currently, as well as, in the future.
There is too much uncertainty on the future of Gasol, the frontcourt of Chicago. Gasol, who turned 36 this July, managed to play at a reasonably high level and had an average of 16.1 points and rebounds of 10.9 in the current season.
According to Latest Nigerian News, the player’s performance indicates that there is a chance of him having one more productive playing season. That will also see the expiry of his current contract.
According to NBA Trade rumors, Gasol is an expensive trade chip and is quite a lucrative target in a potential NBA deal. It is, however, not logical to move him unless a king’s ransom is offered to him.
