Boston Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart could possibly be traded before the deadline, according to the most recent NBA trade rumors. Read on to know more details.
Based on a report from Sports Cheat Sheet, the Boston Celtics could make a deal with their young backcourt players – Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart. The source also reported that Danny Ainge, the general manager of the Celtics, must make a decision as soon as possible to choose one among the players for their long-term plan.
It seems that the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks are interested with the players, and could make a successful deal if the Celtics are ready to give up Thomas and Smart.
Even though the NBA trade rumors suggested that the Celtics could possibly trade Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart, it would be tough for Ainge to make a deal involving the young backcourt, according to YIBADA. This is because Smart has been locked up for the next three years, and Thomas for the next two years.
The Celtics are concentrating in rebuilding their team as their NBA power ranking has reduced the team lost their players such as Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen. Even though the Celtics improved a bit after Brad Stevens became the coach, the team has yet to catch up their ranking.
The 26-year-old Thomas has averaged 21.7 points & 5.8 assists in the “first six games of the 2015-2016 NBA regular season,’ while Smart has averaged 12.0 points & 3.7 assists in his first three games.
Despite the fact that this NBA trade remains a rumor, it is still possible as the Boston Celtics Danny Ainge has not yet made the final decision.
