The latest NBA trade rumors suggested that the Toronto Raptors are aiming to strengthen the team’s frontcourt. The Raptors are interested with the Chicago Bulls’ power forward Taj Gibson.
According to Sports Illustrated, the solution that the Toronto Raptors has found in strengthening the team’s power forward spot is to acquire Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls. Indeed, it is the right time for the Raptors to trade a player like Gibson as the team is already missing their center Jonas Valanciunas who has been undergoing treatment for hand injury.
The trade would not be a perfect swap, if it happens. However, Gibson would be a good addition for the Raptors. It seems that the Bull’s power forward would be a better go well with the Raptor’s offense-oriented power forward players such as Luis Scola. Gibson’s impressive defensive skill would be an advantage for the Raptors.
Based on a report from Real GM, a straight deal is possible with Gibson’s trade in exchange for power forward Patrick Patterson. Patterson is not skilled in defending at the post even though he is talented in stretching the defense. Moreover, he has unimpressive rebounding game.
However, this would not affect the Bulls even if they get Patterson in exchange for Gibson, as the team has responsible players such as Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah. It looks like that the Noah would get “more playing time off the bench” solving the “issues about his decreased role,” in case Gibson moves out of the Bulls.
YIBADA reported that there is possibility that the Toronto Raptors might consider this trade before the deadline if other Eastern Conference teams carry on to “climb up the league standings.”
