Is there a chance that the Miami Heat continue keeping Hassan Whiteside after Mario Chalmers trade? Read on to find out more details.
According to Sun Sentinel, there have been several rumors claiming that the Miami Heat’s center Hassan Whiteside would leave the team. Sources reported previously that Whiteside was sure to leave the Heat as the “situation was complex.” The source also added that the team could “lock up” Whiteside and might be more flexible too.
This guess is made as the American professional basketball executive Pat Riley could “pursue whoever he wants, whatever the cap situation.” The Heat might keep Whiteside. However, if they do so, “they would no longer be able to pursue free agents.”
In another article, the source reported that Whiteside has more chances to become an All-Star, and that the center is playing at an All-Star level at the moment.
Based on a report from Morning News USA, the Heat is interested with acquiring center DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Whiteside.
In case the working relationship between Cousins and the King’s head coach George Karl does not improve, there is more possibility that Cousins could be traded before the deadline. The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers were considered as the teams that could best fit the Cousins’ trade, in the past. Now, as the Heat is also interested, it could be the most fitting destination for Cousins.
What do you think? Will the Miami Heat keep Hassan Whiteside? Alternatively, will they consider giving him up to another team like the Sacramento Kings? Come out with your opinion in the comments section.
