NBC’s New Series ‘Allegiance’ Premiere Scoop: The New Espionage Thriller
The current logo for the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), an American commercial broadcasting television network headquartered in New York City’s Rockefeller Center, which was formed as a radio network by the Radio Corporation of America in 1926. A simplification of an earlier and more complicated logo originally created for color broadcasts, this logo was created by Steff Geissbuhler of Chermayeff & Geismar to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the network in 1986, and since then, has become one of the most recognizable logos in the world.

NBC has announced the premiere date of the new family drama and espionage thriller “Allegiance.” Read on for further details.

According to IMDb, “Allegiance” will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015. Its time slot is after the NBC hit “The Blacklist.”

“Allegiance” is a drama with political and psychological elements. The series focuses on a novice CIA analyst Alex O’Connor, played by Gavin Stenhouse, who specializes in Russian activities. His drive to be in the CIA is rooted from the 9/11 attack. The series starts with a normal family in a suburban home in New York. However, Alex eventually discovers that his own parents Mark and Katya were Russian spies in the past. Kremlin wants to hire them again for a new terrorism plot in the United States.

The parents are played by Scott Cohen from “Gilmore Girls” and “Necessary Roughness” and Hope Davis from “In Treatment” and “The Newsroom.”

Cohen has a deeper connection with the plot because his son Liam witnessed the 9/11 attack in such a young age of five. He said he cannot imagine the “fright” and “fear” of seeing the devastation. However, the actor’s point of view about terrorism is rational. He believed that people always have a reason why they do something even if it is wrong.

“There’s humanity to everybody no matter what they do,” Cohen said.

The creator George Nolfi based the plot on an Israeli drama, which is about the “modern intelligence world” of American and Russian spies.  Nolfi also wrote “The Bourne Ultimatum.” His interest with espionage stories came from studying diplomacy and policy at UCLA and Princeton. He was active on issues about geopolitics. He successfully established the plot of “Allegiance” by contacting people in the world of foreign relations.

“Allegiance” also stars Margarita Levieva, Annie Ilonzeh, Morgan Spector, Kenneth Choi and Alexandra Peters.

Executive producers are writer-director Nolfi from “The Adjustment Bureau,” Avi Nir from “Homeland,” Ron Leshem, Yona Wiesenthal, Giyora Yahalom, Rashad Raisani, John Glenn and Amit Cohen. The production companies are Universal Television, Yes! and Keshet Media.

There you have it for the scoop on “Allegiance,” which will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, on NBC. For more updates about this show, including spoilers and recaps, follow Movie News Guide (MNG).
