“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 1 Episode 18 “The List aired last Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. In this episode, the team raced against time to connect three seemingly unrelated murders together before a fourth murder was committed thanks to a local vigilante. Meanwhile, NCIS Special Agent Meredith “Merri” Brody’s (Zoe McLellan) personal life came to the spotlight after her ex-fiance arrives in town. Read on to learn more about this episode.
In the beginning of the episode, a woman brought a customer inside a room only to find a sailor dead inside the room.
The next morning, on the way to the crime scene, NCIS Special Agent Christopher La Salle (Lucas Black) teased NCIS Special Agent Meredith “Merri” Brody’s (Zoe McLellan) about her date last night with Dr. Sam Wilkins.
Upstairs, they found Medical Examiner Dr. Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) with the victim, Petty Officer Third Class Peter Karp. They also found a footprint and some greenish substance on it, which they immediately sent to Sebastian Lund (Rob Kerkovich), who was currently on a juice fast.
Outside, Brody was surprised to see her ex-fiance, James Lathom (Luke Mably) in the area, as he was there to do a piece on New Orleans’ architecture. Later, on the way to Karp’s ship, the Abigail, Brody informed La Salle that the problem with James was that he was married to his job, but he kept on texting her and insisting that they should have a drink sometime soon.
At the Abigial, Karp’s shipmates told them that he had been reluctant to go for liberty, and had disappeared after the set break of the band that they were watching.
At the morgue, Sebastian informed NCIS Special Agent Dwayne “King” Pride (Scott Bakula) that the foreign fibers they had found was a synthetic feather, which was later determined to be part of the costume of the woman in the bar dressed up as Pocahontas- Peggy Mitchell (Ruby Lou Smith). However, after talking to her, they learned that Karp had been rude, and that she had left him after a while. She also informed them that Karp had talked about how he was supposed to have been a doctor.
Back at the morgue, Sebastian informed them that two bullets had been fired at tandem, which meant that the gun was an old weapon, and hadn’t been used in a while. They then learned that the gun was used in two other unsolved murder cases. The first victim was a drunkard named Todd Foley in 2009, and the second victim was Ryan Cash , who was involved in a “drug related drive-by” in 2012. They also learned that the charges had been dropped on both of them, and later, they discovered that just like Karp’s medical school record, Foley’s and Cash’s records were either incomplete or had missing documents in it.
Later that night, Brody met up with James for drinks, and revealed that he had left while they were planning their wedding as had gotten assigned to Afghanistan. After a few drinks, the two ended up spending the night together, which was noticed by her colleagues when she came to work the next morning.
The entire team then went to a particular area and checked under the bridge, where a community feeding program was going on for the homeless, and Sebastian had discovered that the killer, who had nice shoes, also had left some moss that was found there. They also managed to discover that Karp had left medical school as he was accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student, but charges had been dropped.
There, Pride introduced himself to Mama T (Deneen Taylor), Teresa Combs, the leader of the program, and Brody and La Salle discovered that the names of the victims had been written on the wall to form some kind of hit list. After discovering a fourth name, Kevin Heller (Michael Heller), they went to put him into protective custody, but he refused to come as he claimed that he had been falsely accused of murder.
Later, they realized that all of the victims had been killed by a vigilante, as they had all escaped justice, and brought in Mama T after realizing that Heller had been accused or murdering her son, which was why she put the name up on the wall.
After proving to her that Heller wasn’t the killer as he had been in a gay bar that night, she told them that they suspected that one of the men she served, Boogie Down Bob (Andre Pichon) was the vigilante. After arresting him, they discovered that he had a box with a gun, and that his footprints had been clean as he had duct taped the front of his shoes.
Later that night, Brody met up with James, who came to say goodbye, and after making sure that he wasn’t the one who sent her flowers, kissed him.
