The “NCIS” spinoff, “NCIS: New Orleans,” welcomes a new member to their team as they add Rob Kerkovich, from ABC’s “Chasing Life,” to their ranks. Kerkovich will be portraying forensic scientist Sebastian Voll, a morgue assistant to medical examiner, Dr. Loretta Wade, played by C.C.H. Pounder. Read further to learn more about this scoop.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new character is a brilliant scientist who previously experienced working in New Orleans. Thanks to a job as a forensic counterterrorism analyst for Homeland Security. After his stint with Interpol ended, Sebastian Voll has decided to go back to New Orleans, as he had fallen in love with the city. Here, he is able to get a job as a lab technician for the Jefferson Parish morgues, which is where he became Dr. Loretta Wade’s assistant and became part of the NCIS team.

According to TV Line, the show’s creator and show runner, Gary Glasberg, also announced last Thursday, July 17, 2014, during the summer press tour of the Television Critics Association that there definitely will be episodes in which “NCIS” regulars — such as Mark Harmon (Special Agent Gibbs), Pauley Perrette ( Forensic Specialist Abbey Sciuto), Michael Weatherly (Special Agent Tony DiNozzo) and David McCallum (Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard) — will be appearing in “NCIS: New Orleans.” However, they won’t be appearing together in one episode but separately.

Earlier this year, viewers were able to get a sneak peek into the New Orleans office and were able to see how things were run in the Big Easy, with the backdoor pilot episodes “The Crescent City: Parts I and II,” which were part of the eleventh season of  the flagship show, “NCIS”.

The spinoff series will star Scott Bakula  (“Star Trek: Enterprise”) as Special Agent Dwayne ‘King’ Pride, the leader of the investigative team. The series will also star Lucas Black as Special Agent Christopher La Salle; Zoe McLellan as Special Agent Meredith ‘Merri’ Brody; C.C. H. Pounder as the Jefferson Parish medical examiner, Dr. Loretta Wade; and Paige Turco (“Person of Interest”) as Special Agent Pride’s wife.

“NCIS: New Orleans” will premiere on September 23, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on CBS, after the premiere of “NCIS” Season 12.
