Previously on “NCIS” (“Rock and a Hard Place” Season 11 Episode 17 air date: March 18, 2014), a bomb detonated in a dressing room during a USO charity rehearsal. The explosion killed a janitor and an officer. NCIS came in to investigate about the unfateful event. Upon investigation, it was found out that the room was given to Manheim Gold, a famous guitarist. He was then put into protective custody. Gold went through a list of people who may have wanted to kill him.
Tony (Michael Weatherly) confronted the pursuer and found out that he was Gold’s son from a fling he had many years ago. During the questioning, the son insisted that he was just trying to meet his father. However, when Gold mentioned that he switched dressing rooms two days before the bombing, the team thought that Gold may not be the target of whoever planted the bomb because it was placed there three days ago.
