It seems that actor Leonardo DiCaprio has gone through several death defying situations both on and off the big screen. Recently, the forty-one year old actor played the role of a fur-trapper stranded in the middle of the American wilderness, who had to work without resting in order to stay alive.
Even though the scenes for the film were taken in controlled environments, the actor has already faced similar situations in real life.
Recently, in an interview with Wired , he mentioned that he has come in close contact with death, not just once, but on many occasions.
DiCaprio went on to say that his friends don’t want to go on extreme adventures with him, as he always has close shaves with disaster.
The actor went on to compare his life with that of a cat, saying that if a cat has nine lives, than he thinks he has consumed a few of them.
The Golden Globe Award winner described a particular occasion when he was almost eaten by a great white shark when he was in South Africa.
While he was diving, a shark suddenly tried to get one of the tuna that was near the actor and accidentally entered his dive cage. The shark snapped around five to six times, just an arm’s length away from his head.
He also recalled another occasion when a flight he was taking to Russia almost ended up in flames.
He had been looking outside the plane’s window when the explosion happened, and watched, first-hand, as one of the wings of the plane broke off.
