Universal Pictures presents the comedy film “Neighbors,” which stars Zac Efron (Teddy Sanders), Seth Rogen (Mac Radner), Rose Byrne (Kelly Radner) and Dave Franco (Pete). It is directed by no other than the man responsible for “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to the Greek,” Nicholas Stoller. To complete the fun-packed film, the story is written by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Neighbors opens in U.S. theatres on May 9, 2014. Read on to find out more about “Neighbors.”

“Neighbors” Film Synopsis:

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play the roles of a young married couple, Mac Radner and Kelly Radner, who moves into the suburbs with their daughter. All is well in the beginning until their next-door neighbor turn out to be the Delta Psi Beta fraternity lead by their president Teddy Sanders and his love interest Pete.

In one of the fraternity’s weeknight get together, the couple is forced to call the cops. This is when the two parties declare an all-out war.

“Neighbors” Movie Review:

Although “Neighbors” opens in U.S. theatres on May 9, 2014, it was already shown during the Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW) event on March 8, 2014 at Austin, Texas. Rotten Tomatoes has given the film a 100% rating, but without consensus yet. As for the reviews, “Neighbors” received mixed reactions.

Hollywood Reporter’s John DeFore mentioned about the film being a commercial intergenerational warfare.

“An uproarious and hugely commercial vision of intergenerational warfare,” wrote DeFore in the Hollywood Reporter report.

Meanwhile, Andrew Barker of Variety pointed out Zac Efron’s acting. He mentioned that it was one of the actor’s most credible intriguing performances. He also praised the director Nicholas Stoller and Seth Rogen.

“Lewder, weirder, louder, leaner, meaner and more winningly stupid than anything its director Nicholas Stoller and star Seth Rogen have ever been involved with before,” said Barker in Variety.

Meanwhile, Seth Rogen shared with Collider how being married helped him play the role of Mac Radner. Rogen related what he and his wife does, like watching “House of Cards” and staying at home.

“We’re both constantly grappling with stuff like, do we go to the club and stay up all night with our friends, or do we just catch up on Game of Thrones and go to sleep?  I really relate to that, and that’s really what the movie’s about,” said Rogen in the Collider interview.

And that’s the “Neighbors” preview.  Neighbors opens in U.S. theatres on May 9, 2014. Stay tuned for more movie previews and reviews here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
