Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka shared photos of their twins' birthday celebration on Instagram. The photos show Harper and Gideon, both 4, wearing a Wonder Woman costume and a “Sister for Sale” T-shirt, respectively. They are also seen unwrapping birthday presents, which include a magic set.

Harris, 41, tweeted “I can't believer [sic] that you used to be tiny baby things. And now, this.”

Harris began his career in 1989 by playing the title character in “Doogie Howser, M.D.” However, he is best known for playing Barney Stinson in the popular TV sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” which aired its final season in March 2014. The actor went on to star as Hedwig in the Broadway revival of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” a musical about a transgender rocker from East Germany. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor for the said role.

He publicly came out as a gay man in 2006, and he has been with Burtka for 10 years. The couple wed in Italy in September 2014, following the legalization of same-sex marriage in New York City in 2011. Their twins were born in 2010 through a surrogate.

Harris opened up about his years-long engagement to Burtka in OUT. He recalled that Burtka proposed to him five years ago

Anchor  He got on one knee and proposed, and I was so freaked out by it that I said, “Yes,” but I didn’t know what it meant. Then I got the ring and loved it, and a year later, on Valentine’s Day, I proposed to him in Santa Monica.

Harris appears in “Gone Girl” with Ben Affleck and Rosemund Pike, which is currently showing in theaters. He also did voice acting for “The Good Dinosaur,” an animated film scheduled for release in 2015.
