All About Netflix’s Esteemed Project War Machine
Fans are anxiously waiting for the spring debut of Netflix’s big dream project War Machine. The satirical comedy is a combination of drama parody and real events happened in the war zone. Along with 53-year old Brad Pitt, other cast includes Tilda Swinton, Atlanta’s Keith Stanfield, Anthony Michael Hall and Topher Grace.
The film adaptation rights were acquired in 2012 but Michôd was hired two years later to work on the script that is said to be based on the war in Afghanistan. In the initial stages of filmmaking, there was a budget constraint between New Regency and RatPac Entertainment. However, it was later sorted out when Netflix grabbed the rights and paid $60 million for the film (Via Hollywood Reporter).
Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos stated, “It’s great for the specialty film business since people might be more willing to see challenging, liberal-leaning material in the comfort of their own home [rather] than in a movie theatre. More people might actually see the movie this way.” Furthermore, he mentioned that both Michôd and Pitt are known for their exceptional work and fearless experiment techniques. Their combination is surely going to make the upcoming film a big hit.
Additionally, this is the next big project of Brad Pitt after recently released romantic thriller Allied which didn’t perform very well at the box-office. It garnered a worldwide total of $116.9 million, against a production budget of $85 million.
Major Film Projects Of Netflix
