Over the years, Marvel has produced multiple animated series. And now, the studio is ready to unveil its latest, which puts the limelight on Spider-Man. The studio recently revealed important information about it.

Marvel’s Spider-Man animated series

The new animated series from Marvel is titled Marvel’s Spider-Man. Fresh off the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming, it seems the studio has chosen to focus on a young Spider-Man going forward. With the younger version, his school life and crime-fighting career will now be the main focus.

The first look of the show is also very similar to the live-action movie. Fans will get to see a young and excited Peter Parker turn into the iconic hero.

Premiere date and cast confirmed

Screen Rant reported that Marvel’s Spider-Man’s premiere date has been set on Saturday, August 19 on Disney XD channel. The premiere episode will run for one hour and will also be available on the channel’s app.

The show’s cast was also confirmed. From what is known, Robbie Daymond will voice Spider-Man, Max Mittleman as Harry Osborn, Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales, Melanie Minichino as Anya Corazon and Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell.

Additionally, Laura Bailey will voice Gwen Stacy, Nancy Linari as Aunt May, Patton Oswalt as Uncle Ben, Scott Menville as Doc Ock, John DiMaggio as the Jackal and Alastair Duncan as Vulture.

Previous Spider-Man series

Before the release of the series, there was another Spider-Man series that was quite successful. It was titled Ultimate Spider-Man. Even that show saw Spider-Man as a high school student but with a difference.

S.H.I.E.L.D was a regular part of the show and Spider-Man was put in a team of other superhero trainees. Col. Nick Fury had assembled this team and made heroes like White Tiger, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Nova collaborate with Spider-Man.

It also had its perks. Spider-Man got to work with major Avengers like Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor amongst others. He assisted them in missions and even garnered praise from them. The show also strengthened Marvel’s place in the animation world.

But when the show ended recently, it left a little gap. Fortunately, Marvel was quick to introduce a new Spider-Man animated series. Since Spider-Man: Homecoming’s idea of showing a young web slinger has proved successful, this show might work as well.

Expectations from Marvel’s Spider-Man

Marvel’s Spider-Man will be another one of animated series to be based on the hero. In the last few years, there have been multiple series on Spider-Man and each of them has shown a different aspect of the hero.

Keeping them in mind, the first expectation from the new show would be to make it completely unique from the other shows. Everyone is aware of Spider-Man’s story so just repeating it in a different format might not work.

What makers will have to do is show a side of Spider-Man or tell stories that no one is aware of. Secondly, the show will also have to make sure that it simply does not make itself look like the live-action movie. Chiming in on the lines of the movie will simply make the show look like an animated rehash.

Finally, expanding the Spider-Man-verse in the animated genre is what should be the maker’s aim. Just like how Sony is developing its own Spider-Man universe, Marvel should aim at developing their own Spider-Man Animated universe with this show.

Plot and premiere date

Marvel’s Spider-Man will focus on a teenage Peter Parker who after getting bit by a radioactive spider gets superpowers. With his newfound powers, he will have to balance his school life and be a superhero. Marvel’s Spider-Man will premiere this year on August 19.
