A new image containing Marvel’s big three — Thor, Tony Stark and Captain America — in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was featured in an article called “Geek Movie Preview” of USA Today. The image features Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Chris Evans as Captain America who all look tattered, disheveled and concerned, probably from the films’ second act. The “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is the eleventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will follow the events of the original film. With S.H.I.E.L.D.’s abolition on “Captain America: Winter Soldier” and the Avengers needing a hiatus from stopping threats, Stark creates Ultron, a self-aware, self-teaching artificial intelligence, who can assess threats and control Stark’s Iron Legion. However, things go awry as his plan quickly backfires when Ultron decides that humans are the main enemy and sets out to eradicate them from Earth. The superhero team will confront newcomers Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, as well as the Vision.
The original cast will be suiting up to reprise their respective roles: Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Hayley Atwell, Thomas Kretschmann and Stellan Skarsgård reprise their roles from previous MCU films as Maria Hill, Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes, Peggy Carter, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and Erik Selvig. Claudia Kim was cast as a scientist and friend of Tony Stark, while Andy Serkis is playing an undisclosed role in the film. James Spader plays central villain Ultron. “Avengers” co-creator Stan Lee is set to make a cameo appearance.
Paul Bettany, who voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. (Tony Stark’s AI butler) in previous films, will now play the synthezoid Vision, an android who is able to control his density, which enables him to phase through walls, fly or have a diamond-hard near invulnerability. The Vision will be joined by Magneto’s twins, Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff/Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen respectively.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015 in North America in 2D and IMAX 3D.
