Fans of the TV series “New Girl” had been disappointed when rumors circulated online that the Zooey Deschanel series has been cancelled. Thankfully, FOX slammed the cancellation rumors and said that we can all expect a season 5. Read on for more details.
According to TV Line, the network finally announces the return of “New Girl” season 5, the longest running and the “smartest and most relatable” show on TV. It is included on the list of the network’s comedy renewal is “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Last Man On Earth” and “The Mindy Project.”
“Four seasons in, New Girl continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television, the writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn’t be more proud of Liz, Brett, Dave and the entire New Girl team.” FOX Entertainment President David Madden said in a statement.
Marking as a profitable asset for Fox sibling 20th TV with off-networks deals, the comedy series will have its 100th episode on its upcoming 2015-2016 season.
Unfortunately, “New Girl” pilot co-star Damon Wayans Jr. said recently that he won’t be part of season 5. Aside from being a pilot co-star, Damon joined the series back on season 3 and in season 4, became a regular talent with a one-year deal. Meanwhile, joining for the next season, as reported by TVLine, is John Cho as guest star for multiple episodes.
“New Girl” stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominated actress Zooey Deschanel as a spirited, smart and single young woman who travels her way through the friendship and romance, together her best friend and four male roommates. “New Girl” is created by Liz Meriwether and produced by Chernin Entertainment together with 20th TV. Executive Producers of the series include Kathetherine Pope, Peter Chernin, Jake Kasdan, Brett Baer, Dave Finkel and Liz Meriwether.
