Disney releases the latest trailer for the studio's adaptation of the musical “Into the Woods." Read on to learn more about it.

According to Entertainment Weekly (EW), the high-pitched trailer released last Thursday shows more singing and spellbinding scenes featuring two prominent songs from the musical of the same name, “Into the Woods” and “Stay With Me,” sang by Meryl Streep.

“I didn’t want this to look like a cartoon world, It’s not sunny, sunny, sunny—we wanted a sense of danger,” said helmer Rob Marshall to EW.

The upcoming musical fantasy pic by Walt Disney is based on the Tony Award-winning eponymous Broadway musical by Lapine and Stephen Sondheim.

"Into the Woods" intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales such as "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Rapunzel" and "Cinderella." It follows the story of a childless couple, who is out to end a curse placed on them by a vengeful witch. The pic explores the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests, tackling the issues of responsibility and the legacy that we leave our children.

Members of the ensemble cast include Meryl Streep as the Witch; Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel; Billy Magnussen as Rapunzel's Prince; Emily Blunt as the Baker's Wife; James Corden as the Baker; Anna Kendrick as Cinderella; Tammy Blanchard and Lucy Punch as Florinda and Lucinda, Cinderella’s stepsisters; Christine Baranski as Cinderella's Stepmother; Joanna Riding as Cinderella's Mother; Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince; Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood; Annette Crosbie as Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother; Johnny Depp as the Wolf; Daniel Huttlestone as Jack; Tracey Ullman as Jack's Mother; Frances de la Tour as the Giant; Richard Glover as the Steward; and Simon Russell Beale as the Baker's Father.

The Disney film is directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay by James Lapine. It is produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Rob Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Callum McDougall.

”Into the Woods” is set to hit the big screens on Dec. 25, 2014.
