There has been buzz around ever since the new Power Rangers movie was announced. Some have been really excited while some think it is a bad idea to touch something, which was a part of every child’s childhood and bring it on the big screen. We don’t know for sure whether the movie will be good or not, but here’s why we think the movie might be a bit of disappointment.
- 1. According to Movie Pilot, everyone who has ever seen Power Rangers might remember that the Rangers was always intended to be for kids, they had lines that needed completion before they could go in action. Speaking in depth, any Ranger would first transform into his/her gear, speak a few elaborated lines and then after a few funny kicks and punches would knock the villain out. The reason why this point has been put on no.1 is because the movie adaptation is being developed keeping in mind slightly older audience. Re-developing kids content for mature audiences might not be the best idea, as a previous attempt (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) was not accepted gladly amongst fans.
- 2. This might not fall under the Superhero genre. The reason why I say this is because superheroes are those fictional characters who have unbelievable abilities like super strength, flight, heat vision, speed etc. The reason why “Avengers” have succeeded and in future “Justice League” will succeed is because members of these respective teams have incredible capabilities and not to forget a huge commercial guarantee. Power Rangers could easily fit into the action category given the amount of whichever martial art they use.
- 3. Finally, there is no established star attached to this movie. We are not saying you need an established mega star to make a movie hit because Chris Pratt himself was relatively just another actor before getting cast as Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” What we are saying is that there will be a lot of responsibilities on the cast of “Power Rangers” since they are all relatively new, but in the process we might just get our next Movie star!
On the other hand Cinema Blend added the misunderstanding that Sam Claflin was in because of his tweet. He was at Prague with his wife when “Power Rangers” TV show came up, he tweeted a line from the same and fans started assuming that Sam is currently negotiating for a part. Turns out, he didn’t even know that a movie was in development! Such is the power of social media.
“Power Rangers” is scheduled for a 2017 release.
