There will be two Hercules movies releasing next year. The first one to hit theaters is
Hercules: The Legend Begins (UPDATE: Summit has retitled the film The Legend of Hercules) which features Twilight alum Kellan Lutz playing a younger version of Zeus’ son. While the other titled “Hercules” stars Dwayne Johnson in an older version of Herc.
The first trailer for The Legend of Hercules has debuted online. The story follows a young Herc, Kellan Lutz, who must choose one of the two ways: either to flee with his true love i.e the Princess of Crete, Hebe (Gaia Weiss) who has been promised to his own brother, or fulfill his destiny, as he has been prophesied to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the King Amphitryon (Scott Adkins) and restore peace to the ancient land of Greece.
Directed and co-written by Renny Harlin, The Legend of Hercules shows similarities with Zack Snyder’s “300” but Harlin seems to use better locations for his film, especially the big battle scenes look exciting. Otherwise, I didn’t find anything special in it – the same ancient world mythology with some hunky warriors fighting one another in the gladiatorial arena.
Scheduled to release in January 10, 2014, the movie doesn’t have good chances to be another Box Office hit, in fact the majority of the people will be waiting for Brett Ratner’s “Hercules” starring Dwayne Johnson to come out in July.
