Zombie fans will surely be thrilled about the new TV series that will join The CW family in the midseason of 2015. The DC/Vertigo supernatural series “iZombie” is an interesting blend of “Walking Dead” and “CSI” that you do not want to miss.

The medical student named Liv, played by Rose McIver from “Once Upon a Time,” turns into a zombie and wants to maintain her humanity by eating brains to be accessed in a coroner’s office. Despite her reluctance in eating brains, she eventually figures out that she inherits the memories from the brains. She will work with a police detective and a medical examiner to solve deaths using the memories and stop the voices in her head.

“We’re not going to out-gore ‘The Walking Dead,’” said EP Rob Thomas in an interview with TV Line.

TV Line also found out that Aly Michalka, who also took part in “Two and a Half Men,” “CSI” and “Breaking In,” will take the role of Liv’s roommate and best friend Peyton. Alexandra Krosney from “Last Man Standing” was Peyton in the pilot episode but was replaced when the supernatural show landed on the midseason schedule of The CW. Peyton will eventually notice Liv’s behavior and feel that their friendship is falling apart.

Other cast members of “iZombie” are Robert Buckley from “One Tree Hill,” David Anders from “Once Upon a Time” and “Alias,” Nora Dunn from “Entourage,” Malcolm Goodwin from “Breakout Kings” and Rahul Kohli. The characters are based on the creation of Chris Roberson and Michael Allred that was published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.

“iZombie is produced by DC Comics, Rob Thomas Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Executive Producers are Rob Thomas, who also produced “Veronica Mars,” Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Dan Etheridge and Danielle Stokdyk. It is distributed by CW Television Network.

There is no exact date yet for the premiere based on the official website of The CW.
