If reports are to be believed, New York Knicks aren’t all that confident about their point guard position. They already have three solid players lined up for the point guard position but they are still looking to trade last year’s dud Jose Calderon for somebody who would stay fit throughout the season and not ask to be paid heaven.
They are being really specific about this and the man they are looking to swap Calderon for, is Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves. But apparently, they are not going to get their man this time.
At the beginning of the preseason, there were rumors of Minnesota Timberwolves getting tired of Ricky Rubio. They had a veteran player on their hands when the rest of the team looked young and dynamic and the trade rumors said that they were looking to get rid of the weary Ricky Rubio and pull in some fresh blood.
After all, he has been with the Timberwolves for a really long time. At this point of time, there is speculation that Tyrus Jones will take over Rubio’s position and Rubio will be traded for Calderon to add sparkle to Knicks line up.
But things turned out to be different for all concerned. The Timberwolves now claim that Rubio is an integral part of their team and they are going to keep him with them.
Timberwolves’ president and head coach Flip Saunders may have shown a preference for Jones over Rubio, but the general manager, Milt Newton, has made it extremely clear that Rubio is going to be an integral part of the team. He declared to the press that the Timberwolves were not looking to talk about trading Rubio to anybody. They were expecting him to come to practice and lead the team.
It looks like Knicks won’t be able to get rid of Calderon any time soon.
