The most recent NFL rumors claimed Detroit Lions as “big sellers” and Calvin Johnson as one among the trade options. Read on to get more details.
According to SB Nation, Calvin Johnson, the wide receiver of the Detroit Lions, was missing during the team’s practice session last week. Johnson’s absence has sparked the rumors that the player might be traded.
Does it mean that Johnson is being traded just because he was absent for the practice? Obviously, this is a real stupidity. The wide receiver had to leave Sunday’s game due to his ankle injury. This was the reason why he did not appear for the practice. Moreover, the team’s next game is two weeks away.
Hence, there is no need of forcing the player for practice. Moreover, the wide receiver was given “a day off of practice last week” even though he has recovered from the injury. Indeed, he would be given days off at random in order to stay fresh.
So, Johnson’s absence from the team’s practice session is not a sign that he could be traded. In addition, we can conclude that the player is not considered as a trade option since he appeared before the media in the locker room after practice. If the Lions are considering Johnson for a trade, he would not have appeared before the media until the trade announcement involving him was made.
Few days before, Martin Mayhew, the General Manager of the Detroit Lions, declared that the team would be “buyers at the trade deadline,” reported Detroit Free Press. As of now, Calvin Johnson trade rumors are not true.
