Warner Brothers set the premiere date for the thriller film “Nice Guys” starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. The upcoming movie will hit the big screens on June 17, 2016. For more details on this story read on.
According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), “Nice Guys” is set in Los Angeles during the 70’s era. Gosling will take on the role as an “own-on-his-luck” detective who hired Crowe’s leg-breaker character. They will work together to solve several criminal cases of a missing girl and a dead porn start, which will unravel “a much bigger conspiracy.”
“Iron Man 3” director Shane Black will be taking the reins in directing the film with Silver Pictures’ Joel Silver, reuniting the director and producer who have worked together in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” and “Lethal Weapon.”
“Ever since we did ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,’ I’ve been eager to work with Shane again, and with this film, we made it happen – It’s a terrific script written in Shane’s great cinematic voice. With Russell and Ryan on board, I know we’re in for another wild ride.” said Silver in the THR report.
The film would be produced by Ken Kao from Waypoint Entertainment along with executive producers Hal Sadoff and Michael Malone. Black co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi. Waypoint will be co-financing while Alex Walton and Ken Kao of BLOOM will be handling international sales.
Black is a screenwriter, director, producer and actor, who wrote scripts for the late 1980s and early 1990s action films, such as “Lethal Weapon,” and made his directorial debut with the film “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” which starred Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer.
He co-wrote and directed “Iron Man 3,” reuniting him with Downey Jr., which currently ranks as the sixth highest grossing film, $1.25 billion, of all time worldwide. His first acting role came in the film “Predator,” a film for which he also made uncredited contributions to the script.
“Nice Guys” hits the screens on June 17, 2016 alongside possible contenders with two animations films such as “Finding Dory” and “How to Train Your Dragon 3.”
