Nickelodeon has given a green signal for a movie based on the old 90’s show, “Hey Arnold!” The creator of the show, Craig Bartlett, revealed the news to AV Club recently.
Nickelodeon is looking into creating a programming block for its biggest hits from the 90’s. This is obviously great news for the grown ups who were kids in the nineties. The first show to be resurrected might just be “Hey Arnold!” According to the creator of “Hey Arnold!,” Craig Bartlett, the show is going to spawn a movie. The script has not been decided yet but Nickelodeon has given a thumps up for a script and a team of writers have been given the task of writing a good plot.
Older “Hey Arnold!” fans will remember that the old show had ended in a cliffhanger. Arnold had discovered a map that was going to help him find his parents. Chances are, the new movie is going to include the old story into the new movie just so that all the grown ups who grew up watching the show have something to relate to. The movie will also be a good introduction for the younger kids who have not heard about the show. The new movie will also target 6-11 year olds that are growing up in the new decade.
According to Bartlett, the characters from the old show might get a slight redesign in the new decade. But they also intend to stay faithful to the design from the nineties. It is also rumored that Nickelodeon is also planning on bringing back the Nicktoons and several other shows from the nineties. Some live action series might get resurrected too, albeit with new actors. The VP of Content Development, Chris Viscardi says that he has been getting in touch with other creators of shows to gauge interest in the series.
