Nicki Minaj has announced the cast who has been selected to play her childhood character in the upcoming ABC Family comedy series.
Based on a report from People, the cast for the new television series “Nicki” featuring Nicki Minaj’s childhood has been selected. On December 19, the 33-year-old “Bang Bang” singer announced on Instagram that the 11-year-old Ariana Neal has been selected to play as young Minaj in the upcoming ABC Family series.
Nicki Minaj was so glad to welcome the little “lady bug” to the ABC Family’s comedy series. She posted a photo of Neal on Instagram with the caption, “I literally cried watching her taped audition. I demanded to meet her!”
The “Anaconda” rapper also wrote “Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table & forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She’s tough And so sweet & cute.”
Both Nicki and the ABC Family posted an Instagram photo and announced few cast of the upcoming series. Ariana Neal, model/actress Selita Ebanks, Whoopi Goldberg, and Wesley Jonathan would be starring in the new television series “Nicki.”
According to ABC Family, the TV show “Nicki” is actually an half-hour comedy series based on Minaj’s real-life childhood story during the 90s, after she and her family moved from Trinidad to Queens, New York. In October, the ABC Family announced that it would be rebranded as Freeform from January 12, 2016.
CNN reported that Minaj would be the executive-producer of the series. She would also appear in the series. The filming of the series would start in January 2016.
