It’s confirmed! Nicki Minaj was married to Safaree Samuels, aka Scaff Breey. Unfortunately, the rapper's estranged husband had also confirmed their break up before deleting his Twitter account and making his Instagram profile private. Samuels was allegedly jealous of the singer's fame and decided to end the relationship.
"Cheating was never the issue. People grow apart and it is what it is and that's all I'll say about that. A lot can happen and change in 12 years. All you see is a public figure. We will always love each other no matter what," he allegedly tweeted, as reported by MStarz.
Samuels and Minaj were reportedly together for a whopping 14 years before calling it quits. He was quick to claim that there was no third party involved.
TMZ previously reported that the estranged couple had been arguing for years over the “Anaconda’s” singer fame. Apparently, her husband had been jealous of her success and was tired of needing to remain in the background, overshadowed by Minaj’s fame.
Rumors of the break up escalated early this year when Samuels had two of his three Nicki tats covered up with new ink. Meanwhile, Minaj tweeted “SINGLE N READY TO MINGLE” back in May.
In a recent interview with E! News, the rapper revealed that she wanted to get married and start a family soon. She also adds that if she doesn't have a child by the time she's done with album No. 5, "no matter how much money I have," she "would be disappointed, as a woman, because I feel like I was put here to be a mother."
Who would have thought that Minaj would be so maternal and quite a bit conservative? She insisted that she wanted to get married before having babies as she “wanted to make sure that she did it in order.”
“I've always felt like that since I was young; my mother always put that in my head," she explained.
