At MTV Video Music Awards 2015, Nicki Minaj vent out her anger and called Miley Cyrus a b-tch. Nicki Minaj surely had detested Miley for calling her “not polite” and “just about herself” when Minaj had raised the bigger issue of discrimination against blacks prevalent in award show. At VMH 2015, Nicki Minaj looked stunning and spoke eloquently about her dislike for Miley Cyrus’ comments, which Miley had made on Twitter and to Times.
Nicki Minaj retorted, Miley Cyrus wants to have black men all over in her videos and wishes to accompany black women on stages. She pointed, “but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important?”
It was definitely not brouhaha. It all started when Minaj’s “Anaconda” video was not awarded Video of the Year nomination from MTV in summer. Consequently what followed was Minaj’s tweets of defiance. She said the award function “celebrates women with very slim bodies” and does not really bother to give due acknowledgement to black women for their contributions.
On this, Taylor Swift was quick to conclude on Twitter that Minaj was “pit[ting] women against each other”, but later chose to apologize after realizing her failure in understanding of the deeper issue the black damsel had raised.
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards was filled with emotional and debutante moments. The audience saw Justin Bieber’s eyes getting wet and also witnessed the first performance of Macklemore. But it was Nicki Minaj’s rhetoric that completely stole the show. Her advice to Miley Cyrus was that if she wanted to gel with blacks, get acquainted with their culture; have fun, dance and rap with them, then she also must take an effort to understand how blacks feel and what really affects them. Her views received rapturous applause from audience in VMAs.
