Nina Dobrev will make a guest appearance in an episode of “The Originals.” The actress will play Tatia, who gets caught in a love triangle with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies). This runs parallel to her role as Elena in “The Vampire Diaries,” where she becomes the romantic interest of vampire siblings Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). The episode airs on Nov. 3, 2014. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

“We tell a story that will make you understand her fate, what happened to her, her relationship with both brothers and why what happened between her and the two brothers is so beautiful but also tragic,” said executive producer Michael Narducci on Entertainment Weekly.

“The Originals” lead actor Joseph Morgan also hinted at the nature of the plot line involving Tatia's character. He described it as shocking and grim.

“It’s shocking, I think. It’s pretty grim. I don’t want to spoil too much, but it’s definitely revealing of the brothers and what happened back then,” said Morgan to TV Line.

Tatia was mentioned as far back as Season 3 of “The Vampire Diaries,” when Klaus and Elijah talked about her briefly over dinner with Damon and Stefan.

Dobrev's crossover to the series spin-off has sparked rumors that the actress is leaving “The Vampire Diaries.” It was reported that she would exit the show if co-star Ian Somerhalder decides to renew his contract. Dobrev and Somerhalder dated for three years before they broke up in 2013. The two are not on speaking terms, and producers have asked Somerhalder to refrain from bringing his new girlfriend, “Twilight” star Nikki Reed, on set.

The show's producers are looking into the possibility of having Dobrev transfer to “The Originals” as a permanent cast member or to release her from her contract after Season 6 of “The Vampire Diaries.”
