Nominations for 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards Announced

With the arrival of the month of April, daytime TV shows await for one of the biggest awarding bodies to finally arrive and take notice of all their hard work. And as March ended, the tension is up for whom among the nominees will bring home the bacon.

On Tuesday, March 31, the nominees for the 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards have finally been announced, via the TV show ‘The Talk’ which is also nominated for various awards this year. The Daytime Emmy Awards recognizes all fields of daytime TV shows featured from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. in 2014, as well as their respective hosts, stars, and production crew.

Various TV networks were able to garner various nominations for their respective daytime shows. The three leading networks include CBS with 62 nominations, and right next to it are PBS and SYNDICATED with 50 nominations each.

Among the nominated TV shows, ABC’s ‘General Hospital’ garnered the most nominations with 28 in total, including a nomination for the Outstanding Drama Series and the Outstanding Drama Series Directing and Writing Teams. Coming in at second is CBS’ ‘The Young and the Restless’ with 25 nominations. Third in the list is CBS’ ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ with 19 nominations.

Two days prior the main event, the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will also be held. In this gala, six honorees were chosen among a reported 130 entries to be awarded the Emmy Award in their respective fields. This includes production designer Jason Kolowski, animator Michael Granberry, character designer Drew Hodges and lead painter Robyn Yannoukos for the Amazon instant video ‘Tumble Leaf’. Other honorees also include Jairo Lizarazu as the location designer of Disney Junior’s ‘Disney Jake and the Never Land Pirates’, and Mårten Jönmark as the storyboard artist of Nickelodeon’s ‘Peter Rabbit’.

The 42nd Daytime Emmy Awards will be held at the Warner Bros. Studios in California, with its live television broadcast aired on Pop TV on Sunday, April 26 at 8:00p.m. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards Gala will be held on Friday, April 24 at the Universal Hilton.
