Jill Kargman is on her acting debut in Bravo’s newest scripted sitcom, “Odd Mom Out.” Luckily, she has a supportive sister-in-law, who turned out to be a famous actress. Read on to know acting tips from Kargman’s celebrity sister-in-law, Drew Barrymore.
Barrymore specifically gave Kargman advice about intimate scenes. According to Kargman’s interview with New York Post, Barrymore told her that a sex scene is very “mechanical.” Kargman explained that there were 100 people watching the actual scene. However, she claimed that it was not stressful after all.
Despite taking Barrymore’s acting tips by heart, Kargman assumed that she would not be as famous as her sister-in-law. She explained that Barrymore “grew up in the public eye.” That’s why she affected people in a more personal level. Instead, she believed that no one cares about “a 40-year-old on basic cable” like herself.
“They really have stories about her [Barrymore] life affecting them. It’s not just, ‘I’m a fan.’ They’re really bound to her,” Kargman said in the New York Post interview.
Not only is Kargman associated with Barrymore, the “Odd Mom Out” star is also a close friend of Academy award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow. She revealed that she attended the elite private school Spence with Paltrow. At age 13, she even went clubbing with Paltrow while wearing her mom’s leopard pillbox hat.
Interestingly, Kargman’s father had a prestigious job. Arie Kopelman was the president of the world-renowned brand Chanel. On the other hand, Kargman’s brother, Will Kopelman, married Barrymore.
Like her character Jill Weber in “Odd Mom Out,” Kargman admitted feeling out of place in the elite community. She explained that she preferred the Goth look and disliked summer homes. Her upbringing stopped her from being an extravagant person. She shared that her family only lived in a rental. She also revealed that she got her first Chanel bag at age 21.
“Odd Mom Out” airs every Monday at 10:00 p.m. on Bravo.
