English-Irish pop-icons One Direction will be headlining the Apple Music Festival alongside Florence+the Machine and Pharrell Williams in London this September. The band’s new single “Drag Me Down,” however, is not doing as well as expected. Read on to find out more.
Formerly the iTunes festival, the now rebranded Apple music festival has been active in promoting both established and new talents since 2007. This year’s edition is going to be held in London and will be headed by One Direction (minus Zayn Malik, of course), with British Rockers Florence + the Machine. Other headlining acts are rapper Pharrell Williams, and British electro duo, Disclosure.

One Direction will be returning to the festival for the second time, with the performance and release of a festival EP back in 2012. Florence Welch and her band will be returning for the third time, with previous performances in 2008 and 2010.
In the mean time, One Direction released their first single post Malik’s departure recently. And though “Drag Me Down” went straight to the top of the charts upon release, it has steadily fallen to number 21 in the top 40 charts, according to Unreality TV. It is certainly not as big a hit as the band’s previous songs, and critics are claiming One Direction is headed in a very bad direction after Zayn Malik split up from the band.
Florence + the Machine’s amazing new album “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” is also out since June, and debuted at number one in US Billboard 200.
The performers have pitched in on twitter expressing excitement to perform. The festival is at The Roundhouse in Camden town. Previous edition of the festival have included acts like Arctic Monkeys, Bruno Mars and Adele.
