Fans of famous boy band One Direction went nuts as eyewitnesses saw and took a photo of Liam Payne and his girlfriend Sophia Smith coming out of Tiffany & Co. in New York. Could wedding bells ringing be not far behind?
Tiffany and Co. is well-known for being New York’s haven of jewelery, particularly for their engagement rings. And to see Payne coming out of the shop with his girlfriend and his bodyguard carrying the shop’s signature blue bag is definitely big news.
After an eyewitness took a photo of the couple, it was then posted on Twitter on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014. Within minutes, fans have been on a frantic search for information if the two are finally planning to tie the knot anytime soon.
However, fans who have been hoping to hear wedding bells ringing for these two probably won’t be hearing them just yet. According to the MailOnline, they were just doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. Later that day, the couple were seen shopping in a Rolex shop before grabbing lunch at McDonalds. Apparently, Payne was in New York because he was supposed to guest at "Saturday Night Live," along with the rest of his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
Prior to joining "The X Factor" with his bandmates, Payne attended St. Peter’s Collegiate in Wolverhampton where he met Smith. They were first linked as a couple inn August 2013.
“Liam has really fallen for her. It’s getting very serious, very fast. She’s a sweet, normal girl who likes Liam for who he is, not because he’s in the most famous boyband in the world,” a source told Sunday Mirror, as published on MailOnline.
According to HollywoodLife.com, Smith rejected Payne 22 times before finally deciding to go out with him. On Aug. 19, 2013, she tweeted: “I will always love Liam more than anything. I don’t want to be famous or have any money. Being normal is more me :)”
