Oprah Winfrey, former talk show host and media mogul, is on another business venture and this time around, she partnered with one of the most popular coffee shops in the world, Starbucks. Yes, you read it right, Oprah and Starbucks will be brewing tea together.
No, she didn’t buy Starbucks, but there’s a new tea brewing soon – the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2014, Howard Schultz, Starbucks’ president and CEO announced the company’s collaboration with Oprah Winfrey.
In a Business Wire press release, Oprah mentioned her love for tea.
“I looove tea,” said Oprah in the Business Wire report.
“My daily tea ritual is a vital part of my morning. Savory and spicy chai, with its deep flavor, has long been a favorite of mine. When Howard Schultz offered to have me come into the Starbucks tasting room and create my very own tea blend, I thought that sounded like such a unique opportunity and fun to the tenth power. To share one of my favorite things with the rest of the world and support youth education at the same time is truly the perfect blend,” explained Oprah.
Oprah Winfrey developed her tea together with Naoko Tsunoda, Teavana’s leading teaologist. This is a very specific blend of tea, featuring delicious ingredients to give off the right flavors and just the right aroma to make you reach for more such as cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves all boldly infused with loose-leaf black tea and rooibos.
The Teavana Oprah Chai Tea will be available just in time for Mother’s Day, on May 11, 2014, in U.S. and Canada. Customers can get the handcrafted latte format or the loose-leaf tea one.
Sales from the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea will proceed to Oprah’s Leadership Academy Foundation which provides the funding for her Leadership Academy for Girls – South Africa. This helps students go to colleges and universities. Also, the foundation will support other youth education programs through Girls Inc., Pathways to College, U.S. Dream Academy and National CARES Mentoring Movement.
Other product information and pricing will be announced in the coming weeks. You can visit www.Teavana.com if you want to learn more about Oprah’s tea collaboration with Starbucks.
