Orange is the New Black Season 5 is going to raise the stakes! Season 5 ended with a heart-stopping cliffhanger last year. The prison comedy-drama on Netflix will finally reveal the fate of the inmates. As lead star Taylor Schilling promised, it is going to be “exciting to watch.”
Daya and a Gun
The final episode of Season 4 had a massive prison riot. It also ended with the guards on their knees and Daya (Dascha Polanco) pointing a gun at their heads. Then, the shot went to black without revealing whether she pulled the trigger or not. Season 5 is also expected to pick up exactly where Season 4 closed.
The death of Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley) is just the beginning of the increasing tension inside Litchfield Penitentiary. The prison riot that was a result of the privatization, the over-crowding and the death of one of their own is expected to end in tears or possibly even more dead bodies. As Schilling warned, “the stakes are higher.”
As Danielle Brookes revealed, the events of next season will span three days. This, apparently, will add to the suspense. “[J]ust by virtue of the compressed time and seeing people in compressed circumstance really raises the stakes,” the actress told E! News at this year’s SAG Awards. “It’s exciting to watch, I think for all of us.”
The events of Orange is the New Black Season 5 will happen in just three days. It also means that Piper (Schilling) gets to stay longer in Litchfield Penitentiary. The blonde felon is almost at the end of her initial prison sentence. There has not been
The series has not mentioned about extending her stay behind bars. It was after she lied in court and created an illegally used pantry business from inside the correctional facility. This guarantees that Schilling will stay beyond Season 5.
Major Shake-Up in Orange is the New Black Season 5
Recently, Netflix also announced the premiere date for Orange is the New Black Season 5. In a teaser, the streaming service warned that “Things will never be the same again.” With Daya pointing a gun at an officer, it is not hard to see why. Whether she pulls the trigger or not, there will be consequences waiting for her and her fellow inmates.
Orange is the New Black Season 5 will premiere on June 9 on Netflix. Aside from Schilling, Laura Prepon will return as Alex Vause. Uzo Aduba, Selenis Leyva, Lea DeLaria, Taryn Manning, Laverne Cox and Kate Mulgrew also signed up.
