Oscars Announce Shortlist for Makeup and Hairstyling Category [WATCH VIDEO]

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the award-giving organization behind the Oscars, has announced the shortlist in the Makeup and Hairstyling category for Oscars 2015 on Dec. 15, 2014. The show will air live on ABC on Oscar Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015. Keep reading to learn more about the biggest celebration of excellence in cinematic achievements.

According to the official website, “Foxcatcher,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “The Theory of Everything” and “Noah” are among the seven films who will be in the race for the Best Makeup and Hairstyling award.

Films that were anticipated to race in the category but didn’t make the shortlist include; “Into the Woods,” “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies,” “Snowpiercer” and “Mr. Turner.”

The shortlisted films were selected by a committee from the Academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch. On Jan. 10, 2015, the Members of the special committee will view excerpts from all the shortlisted films. Then they will cast votes for their chosen ones. The top three films will be nominated in the final race.

Nominations for the 87th Academy Awards will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. The Academy Awards will be held on Feb. 22, 2015. Polls will be closed on Jan. 8, 2015 at 5 p.m. PT.

Here’s the complete list of the movies competing in Makeup and Hairstyling category at the Oscars 2015:

Oscars 2014 will be held at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. The event will be broadcast live by the ABC Television Network at 4 p.m. The winners in various categories will be awarded a copy of a statuette, officially the Academy Award of Merit.
