“Outlander” Season 1 Episode 8 “Both Sides Now” aired on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. The midseason finale ended with an epic cliffhanger. Read on to learn more about this episode.
“Both Sides Now” opened with a telephone ringing. Frank was asking about his wife, and the detective whom we have spoken to told him that they haven’t seen her and even provided him with more specific details just to reassure him that they are really doing the best that they can. Frank doesn’t really care about the specifics and just couldn’t accept the fact that his wife ran away with someone else.
That scene was cut, and we were transported to the countryside where newlyweds Claire and Jamie were having a moment until an arrow shot past them, which got us panicky because we thought that they were under attack. Turned out, it was only High Monron, a friend of Jaime who has news for him. He told Jamie that there was man who could help him get off the murder case and if that man was legitimate, he can go back home. However, things were starting to be too good to be true in the show, so we were pulled back to reality when we learned that the man who can vouch for Jaime was actually a Redcoat.
That night, Raiders attacked them, but luckily, only a few stuff were stolen from them. After the attack, the MacKenzies thought that it was a good idea to teach Claire how to fight so she can learn to defend herself. Her training was put into good use a few hours later when he and Jaime went to the meadow when they came across two Redcoats. Jaime got held back by one, while the other one tried to rape Claire. But thanks to her training, she was able to grab the man’s dagger and stab him with it.
Meanwhile, Frank was on his way to Craigh na Dun after hearing the tale of travelers that can time travel and how they can return.
After the attack that happened to Jaime and Claire, the MacKenzies have decided that Jaime should not be left alone to meet with Horrocks. Jaime agreed to this, and they were off with Claire to meet Horrocks. However, at the middle of the journey, Jaime asked Claire to stay behind, and she did. But when her protector, Willie, went somewhere, she wandered around and found Craigh na Dun.
However, just before Claire could get to the stones, she was captured by a group of Redcoats. She knew exactly where they are going to take her, but Randall interrogated her first, and she failed when she was asked about the Duchess because it was only a trick question. Randall attempted to rape her, but just in the nick of time, Jaime asked him to take his hands off his wife. Then the episode ended.
