‘Outlander’ Season 2 Casting News Plus Sam Heughan Filming “Tough Scenes” As Of The Moment

A new report about “Outlander” Season 2 is here! Someone new will be joining the cast of the Starz series. Who is it?

According to Realty Today, Clive Russell has been cast to play the role of Simon, Jamie’s grandfather in “Outlander” Season 2. It was later on confirmed via the show’s official Twitter account.

To add to that, Starz network also confirmed that Oscar Kennedy will be playing the role of the young Lord John Grey. According to the official character description from Spoiler TV, “Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, was the father of Brian Fraser and grandfather of Jamie Fraser. Jamie, at the behest of Charles Stuart, meets with Simon to negotiate sending troops to support the Stuart rebellion.”

Russell has also been part of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” as Brynden of House Tully. We’ve also seen him it a number of scenes in “Outlander” Season 1 with Tobias Menzies who plays Black Jack Randall.

In other news, “Outlander” star Sam Heughan also took to his Twitter account to share to his followers that he’s having an amazing week on set despite the fact that he’s been filming some challenging scenes. He might be referring to the heartbreaking scenes in Diana Gabaldon’s second novel “Dragonfly in Amber.”

It’s not only Heughan who has been voicing out about their shooting for “Outlander” Season 2 because Graham McTavish also took to his Twitter account to say that everything’s great despite the challenging conditions. It was specifically “mud” and he is also thankful that they have a wonderful crew that they work with.

What do you think of Russell and Kennedy joining the cast this season? Also, what do you think about the “tough scenes” that Jaime is filming? Do you think it has something to do with his confrontation with Dougal MacKenzie?
