The Manny Pacquiao camp has just given Floyd Mayweather Jr. until the end of January to accept the fight challenge the Filipino boxer issued at the start of the year. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

Pacquiao adviser, Mike Koncz, has released a statement giving Mayweather until Jan. 31, 2014 to agree to a fight with the Filipino eight-division champion.

Earlier this month, Pacquiao issued a challenge via Twitter, daring the undefeated pound-for-pound boxing champ to make “Fistory” with him in the ring. In the latter part of 2014, he and coach Freddie Roach initiated a verbal and social media campaign, which included a Foot Locker ad, taunting the American fighter to a bout.

“We’re giving this until the end of the month,” Koncz announced via Sports Tempo, a Philippine local daily, “We’re waiting for word from Floyd.”

According to Konzc, one of Pacquiao’s closest advisers, “very sensitive” negotiations are currently underway between the Filipino fighter’s handlers and Mayweather. He further said that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has finally decided to remain silent on the issue, after protesting the Cinco de Mayo date initially issued by Mayweather was a no-go being an important holiday reserved for Mexican fighters.

The Money May has previously blamed Arum as the reason a super fight between him and Pacquiao has never materialized to this day.

For his part, Mayweather has also remained silent about the ongoing negotiations ever since he agreed to meet Pacquiao in the ring last November. Boxing insiders, among them former Olympian Oscar de la Hoya and Chris Algieri, both of whom Pacquiao defeated in previous fights, have expressed their doubts about the long awaited bout pushing through in 2015.

However,, which regularly updates boxing aficionados on scheduled fights around the world, has posted a Mayweather-Pacquiao listing, which was immediately deleted after a few hours.

Fans believe the website was requested to take the schedule down, pending an official announcement from the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps.
