In the second episode, the partners try the case against this drug company, which makes a dangerous kind of sleeping pills. Read on to know what happened in this week’s back-to-back episode of “Partners.”
In “Jurist Prudence,” as Allen (Kelsey Grammer) was carefully choosing the people that would make up the jury in this corporate case their firm is trying against his old nemesis, Marion, whom Allen calls as this colossal presence that would crush his spirit. Marcus (Martin Lawrence) was feeling excited to be on a date with this girl, Prudence.
But it turned out that Marion was no taller than five feet at least, and Marcus was bewildered that Allen often described him as someone big and mighty. This was not the problem, however. The real problem was Prudence, who, to Marcus’ surprise, was part of the jury. This meant that there would be a conflict of interest. Marcus tried to reason with Allen to let Prudence off jury duty as a matter of ethics. He also didn’t want to compromise his new relationship with her, especially since on their first date, Prudence and Marcus got it on really fast.
At first, Allen didn’t want to listen to Marcus. But perhaps struck by conscience, which is highly unusual for someone like a known shark like Allen, he relented and told the judge that Prudence shouldn’t be part of the jury. This should’ve made Marcus happy, but he learned later that Prudence wasn’t really looking for a serious relationship, especially when Marcus was ready to introduce her to his family only after two dates. Prudence broke it off with Marcus instead.
On the flipside to this episode, Laura (Daniele Watts), Marcus’ daughter, was training to be a makeup artist. But when she received bad feedback from the people on the internet for her work, Michael (Rory O’Malley) tried to help her by responding to the bullies online. When the bullying got worse, they called on Lizzie (McKaley Miller) for reinforcements, who was more than willing to bitch on the internet. This backfired, however, as Laura got even more negative comments, so she decided she will not pursue becoming a makeup artist anymore. It’s probably good idea too because Laura did Verushka’s (Edi Patterson) makeup, and the truth was, she wasn’t very good at it.
In the second episode, “Paralegal Activity,” the partners were discussing the case with their newest client, a couple. The wife claimed that she cheated on her husband unintentionally. It was the sleeping pills she was taking that made her do it. Allen and Marcus weren’t optimistic about bringing this case to court. However, saying that they had no concrete proof that the drugs would make someone delirious.

But when Marcus tried the sleeping pills himself and then later saw the video that Allen took of him where he was really going crazy, the two decided to sue the drug company. There was a problem with their clients, however, because drug or no drug, the wife was really cheating on her husband. But Allen still wanted to pursue the case, knowing that a dangerous drug like this existed. He tricked Marcus into drinking another capsule of it so that while in court, Marcus would turn delirious.
The judge was convinced, but she only asked that the drug company put a warning sign in their products. This disappointed Allen, but the judge already closed the case.
Later that day, in retaliation to what Allen had done to him, Marcus tricked Allen into drinking the capsule, and they video-taped him singing a pop song and twerking on the office table.
And that’s what happened on this week’s back-to-back episodes of “Partners” Season 1 Episode 5 “Jurist Prudence” and Episode 6 “Paralegal Activity,” which aired on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on FX.
