Patrick Warbuton to Return in ‘Ted’ Movie Sequel

Actor Patrick Warburton has signed on to reprise his role for the sequel of Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted.” Read on to learn more about this movie update.

According to Deadline, Warburton is set to reprise his role as John’s (Mark Wahlberg) gay co-worker named Guy, who happens to make out with Ryan Reynolds in a scene of the movie. Although it’s unclear fellow actor Ryan Reynolds will be back for the sequel to play as Guy’s silent partner.

Warburton is an American actor known for his several television roles, including the title role on “The Tick”, David Puddy on “Seinfeld”, Johnny Johnson on “NewsRadio”, Jeb Denton on “Less than Perfect”, and Jeff Bingham on “Rules of Engagement.” He has lent his distinctive deep voice on familiar animated roles such as Kronk in “The Emperor’s New Groove” and its sequels, paraplegic police officer Joe Swanson on “Family Guy”, and bodyguard Brock Samson on “The Venture Bros.” Warburton has also appeared in “Bee Movie”, “Kim Possible”, “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command”, “Hoodwinked”, and “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated”, among others.

“Ted 2” is an upcoming comedy starring Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Seth MacFarlane. It is the sequel to the 2012 film “Ted” about the story of John Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg, a Boston native whose childhood wish brings his teddy bear friend Ted, voiced by MacFarlane, to life.

The original film is MacFarlane’s feature-length directorial debut produced by Media Rights Capital and distributed by Universal Pictures. It received generally positive reviews and was a commercial success, becoming the twelfth highest-grossing film of 2012, the highest-grossing R-rated film of the year, and the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. The film also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

During the 2012 American Dad! Comic-Con panel, MacFarlane expressed how he is open for a sequel to Ted. In September of same year, chief executive Steve Burke said that the studio would be looking to make a sequel to Ted “as soon as possible”. Wahlberg confirmed on January 2013 in “Anderson Live” that a sequel was in the works and that it would be the first sequel in his career, also revealing that he and Ted, voiced by MacFarlane, would appear at the 85th Academy Awards. On February 14, 2014, Amanda Seyfried was cast as the female lead, while Mila Kunis was hinted to may have a limited role.

On June 17, 2014, Jessica Barth was confirmed to reprise her role as Tami-Lynn. Principal photography for the film began on July 28, 2014.

“Ted 2” will be directed by Seth MacFarlane and written by MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. It will be produced by Media Rights Capital, Fuzzy Door Productions, Bluegrass Films and Smart Entertainment to be distributed by Universal Pictures. “Ted 2” will make a comeback by June 26, 2015.
