“Fast & Furious” actor, Paul Walker’s daughter. Meadow Rain Walker has filed a wrongful-death suit against Porsche, Monday.
Nearly two years ago, “Fast & Furious” actor, Walker, died with Roger Rodas when their Porsche Carrera GT had a fatal car crash because of reckless driving, but the actor’s daughter, Meadow, claimed that her father would be able to survive the accident if the car had enough safety features like other racing cars.
According to CNN, on behalf of Meadow, the lawsuit filed against Porsche revolves around the real cause of her father’s death as they believe that the unspecified damages for defects allegedly contributes to Walker’s death.
Based on reports, the actor’s lawyer, Jeff Milam, the Porsche Carrera GT that has a 605-horsepower engine capable of up to 205 mph and is marketed as a race car that could be used on the road, is in fact a very dangerous car that shouldn’t be licensed for the road.
“The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn’t belong on the street. And we shouldn’t be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas.” (via CNN)
Moreover, Los Angeles Times also reported that the lawsuit claimed that Porsche AG already that the car Rodas was driving that day of accident had a history of instability, but the company failed to approach the problem, they did not add a control system to address that issue.
Adding on, Meadow also blames Porsche’s car design. The model’s seat belts, according to the filed lawsuit, were installed in a way that could hurt the passenger which happened to Walker. When the car was fractured by the strong impact of the crash the seat belt which was built to protect the passenger causes injuries on Walker.
“…when the car fractured on impact, the shoulder belt was pulled along with the rear engine compartment while the seat belt anchor stayed put. This snapped Walker’s torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis, flattening his seat and trapping him in a supine position, where he remained alive until the vehicle erupted into flames one minute and 20 seconds later.” (via Los Angeles Times)
Meadow also accused the company for using a weaker material for its side door reinforcement bars and of using fuel hose that lacked fittings which was torn and helped create the fire.
On the other hand, Calvin Kim with Porsche Cars North America stated that they wouldn’t make any comments regarding the issue as the automaker hasn’t seen the filed lawsuit against the company.
However, Kim firmly stand by what the authorities investigation result that clearly says the tragic accident that caused “Fast & Furious” actor, Paul Walker, and car racer, Roger Rodas death was all because of “reckless driving and excessive speeding.”
