“Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton recently confirmed their separation after eight years of marriage.
“We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time,” said the couple in an exclusive statement to People magazine.
The couple started dating when Thicke was only 14 years old. They got married in 2005 and were blessed with a son named Julian Fuego who was born in April 2010. The pair was last seen attending the Grammy Awards on Jan. 27,2014.
According to NY Daily News, Thicke described his relationship with Patton to Star magazine as “the greatest love of the century, and the most functional, dysfunctional marriage in Hollywood.”
The singer even explained that his controversial single “Blurred Lines” was written for Patton.
“I wrote it about my wife … she’s my good girl. And I know she wants it because we’ve been together for 20 years,” said Thicke in the NY Daily News report
Back in August 2013, after his controversial MTV Music Video Awards performance with Miley Cyrus, a fan allegedly approached Thicke at 1Oak for a picture, which she posted online. However, upon closer inspection, Thicke was seen grabbing the woman’s behind.
Although rumors have spread that Thicke and Patton were having marriage woes, both have vehemently denied the speculations. OK Magazine reported that in 2013, Patton expressed her affection for her now-estranged husband to Huffington Post.
“He loves me so much and the feeling is mutual. The best is when you love someone deeply and those feelings are equally returned. Also, Robin is really there for me. When times are good or bad or sad or happy or boring, just having somebody by your side to help you through means everything. I know I can count on him standing right next to me always,” Patton told Huffington Post as reported by Ok Magazine.
According to E! News, in the September issue of Prestige magazine, Thicke described his wife as his rock, muse and inspiration.
“I don’t know if I would still be alive in some ways if it wasn’t for Paula,” said Thicke to Prestige magazine as reported by E! News.
However, at the start of 2014, Thicke was seen getting extra close to an unidentified woman at Club 79 in Paris.
Patton is currently filming “Warcraft” in Vancouver, Canada whereas Thicke canceled his concerts in Orlando and Atlanta.
